Whether you grow food, flowers, herbs, shrubs, grasses, or all of the above, there’s no garden without the plants. Here I share some of my favorite plants and the insights I’ve gained through years of growing them.

To me, each plant has its own special “personality” or distinctive energy. Usually, I introduce a new plant into the garden with a specific purpose in mind. It could be an herb I want to work with, an heirloom vegetable with an interesting origin story, or the native host plant of a caterpillar I’d like to welcome in.
